Jesus claimed to do nothing but what the Father told Him, and this passage tells us there is something He did not know. How is it then that we can say that the three Persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are co-equal

Paul says that sin lives in his members, in his body. The Greek here is (melos) which means members or parts of one’s physical body. For me, this is crucial because it helps me understand the Biblical use of (sarx-flesh) more readily.

If the Old Testament makes anything clear, it makes it clear that God does not dwell in unclean unholy places. It also makes clear (as does the Revelation) that God dwells among His people. If we are not ACTUALLY righteous, holy, blameless, then He CANNOT live in us.

Don’t project your New Covenant self onto what the Bible reports about the way God dealt with people under the Old Covenant. The way He interacted with them is not the way He interacts with you.

Let’s face it, the world is full of evil of every sort. Sin is everywhere and we are not immune to the effects of evil and sin around us. It pervades our day-to-day lives and pressures us constantly. The temptation it engenders can be strong and we sometimes, maybe even often, fail to escape it.

Some have called this “the upside-down Kingdom”, but it is more accurate to say that we live in an upside-down world. The Kingdom of God is right-side up.
