Two Kinds of Life
Life can be bios, our physical temporal mortal life, or zoe', immortal, eternal, spiritual Life, God's Life in us.
Mortal life is simply existence in this temporal environment. Animals have one kind of life, and humans have another. Both are temporary.
Eternal Life is God's Life. The Breath of Life. This is spiritual Life born of the Spirit of God.
Genesis 2:7 tells us that "the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
God formed the body of the man.
Then God breathed His Life into the man.
Then that Life, that Spirit, combined with the physical body, constituted a soul and the man was completed.
For this reason, Scripture defines spiritual Life this way, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3, NASB 2020)
Apart from God, no zoe’ Life exists.
Scripture has expressed it this way, “as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22, NASB 2020)
““Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” (John 5:24, NASB 2020)
