EPHESIANS: Truth

EPHESIANS Number 71

TRUTH

Ephesians 6:14a
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth” (KJV 1900).

Truth is the belt upon which everything hangs. It holds clothing up and holds it together. It carries the weight of articles being carried. Truth is the infrastructure upon which we can depend for security. As Jesus said in John 14:6, He is the truth. Moreover, in John 17:17 (KJV 1900) we read, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” You are in the Truth; He is your life.

With truth buckled firmly around your waist, you can remember that it is the Lord Jesus who lives in you by His Spirit—the same exact Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. You are His and He is yours.

Truth is a strong defense against the enemy. Jesus used it, when tempted by the enemy. When the evil one used scripture passages to tempt Jesus to test God, Jesus used the truth of the Scriptures in its proper context to expose and mitigate the enemy’s lies.

It is the same with us. When we face accusation and temptation from the enemy, truth is our strong defense. John 8:44 tells us, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” The enemy is a liar and truth is his Kryptonite.

Truth gives you a strong base of support. Jesus is the Truth. The Spirit within you guides you into all Truth. Truth makes you free.

The belt of truth fits.
