Godliness and Ungodliness

Everything that is consistent with the character of God is godly (righteous).
Everything that is inconsistent with the character of God is ungodly (sinful).

We know the difference by testing things against Father’s character.
We are helped by the descriptions of His character we find in the Scriptures.

The fruit of the Sprit (Galatians 5:22-23).
The characteristics of Love found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a.
The good and lovely things we are encouraged to think about in Philippians 4:8.

We also know the difference by listening to the Still Small Voice.

The Spirit of God speaks with our spirit in a very deep way. His voice can come into our mind as a thought or even more deeply, as what we might call an intuition.

When we consider or engage in ungodliness, the Spirit is grieved within us, and we find ourselves unsettled.
When we choose godly attitudes and actions, we find ourselves joyful and at peace.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7, NIV)

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35, NIV)
