EPHESIANS: Assurance of Salvation
EPHESIANS Number 75
ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
Ephesians 6:17a “And take the helmet of salvation” (KJV 1900).
The helmet of salvation protects our head—our mind. While the enemy will do all he can to remind us of our past, Father says we are safe and secure—hidden even—in Him. Because we know that we are children of God we can safely ignore any thoughts that indicate that we are in jeopardy of hell.
Knowing who we are provides great protection against false accusations. In John 5:24 Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (KJV 1900). It doesn’t get much clearer than that.
When we know beyond doubt that Jesus is our righteousness. When we are settled in our heart that we are accepted in Jesus. When we are sure that we have an inheritance that will never fade or be defiled, we are at peace. Salvation provides a helmet protecting our mind from the lies of the enemy.
This is so important. Romans 12:2 tells us that transformation comes by renewing our minds. The more we see the world as Father sees it, the more our reaction to the world is akin to His. Knowing that we have been rescued from bondage to sin not only makes us compassionate people, but it also makes us bold and stable people. Our mindset is heavenly rather than earthly.
With our minds firmly set on Him, we find that perfect peace He promised in Isaiah 26:3. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee” (KJV 1900).
Salvation is yours. You know this. You are a child of the Living God, so loved by Him that you run unabashedly into His throne room, hop up into His lap, and call Him Papa. Knowing that you are safe and secure in Him is like a helmet on your head. Your mind is protected so that you can ignore all the nonsense the enemy is telling you.
The helmet of salvation fits.
