God Chooses You!

Way back in the olden days, God told the Hebrew nation, “you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His personal possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” (Deuteronomy 7:6, NASB 2020)

No wonder that the Hebrew people often looked down on those from other nations. That was never Father’s intention for them, of course. He wanted them to be a light to those nations to show them what life with Him was like.

Paul wrote to Titus about this. He said that during our time here we are “looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who…”

Get this now.

"…gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.” (Titus 2:13–14, NASB 2020)

Do you see it? God chose the Hebrew nation to show His mercy and grace until the Messiah came. Messiah did come. His name was Jesus and He chose to give His life to purify us and make us His own.

Peter confirms this when he says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (1 Peter 2:9, NASB 2020)

Saints, when you placed your faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, you were reborn into the family of God. He chose you and adopted you as His own.

You can rejoice.
You can rest from striving to impress God.
You can relax about your future.

“For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”” (Romans 8:15, NASB 2020)

God chooses you!
