Listen to Jesus

In Deuteronomy 18:55 & 18-19 the Lord says He will raise up a prophet like Moses from among the people and they are to listen to him. He goes on to say that this prophet will speak God’s words and tell the people all that God says.

Moses was a mediator between God and the people of Israel (see Galatians 3:19-20). Then under the New Covenant we are told that there is one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus (see 1 Timothy 2:5).

Jesus, speaking to God the Father, said, “for the words which You gave Me I have given to them.” (John 17:8) He also said, “The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own, but the Father, as He remains in Me, does His works.” (John 14:10)

Like Moses, Jesus mediated between God and humanity.
Like Moses, Jesus told the people what God said.

Then in Matthew 17:3–5 we read that Jesus was transfigured, “And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Peter responded and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If You want, I will make three tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

Peter appears to think that the new arrangement will be Moses (the Law) and the prophets, and the Lord Jesus. Immediately, we read that “While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!” (NASB 2020)

Jesus is that prophesied prophet like Moses. He was born into the tribe of Judah and was a prophet from among them. God instructed them, and us, to listen to Jesus.

Everything God has to say, He says in and through the Lord Jesus.

The Lord Jesus is the Message and the Messenger of God.

Listen to Him!
