Not Because but For

Jesus did not Die Because of You.

Don’t let the accuser insinuate that your terrible sinfulness was the reason Jesus gave His life on the cross.

Scripture doesn’t teach that. Your sin did not force His sacrifice. He’s God. He could simply have ended you—or never created you in the first place.

Jesus died FOR you.
He gave Himself for the joy of rescuing you so He could be with you.

Here’s what scripture says about it in Hebrews 12:2b “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (NIV)

You are the joy that He saw set before Him. Being with you, sharing love with you, motivated Him. Look what He Himself said in John 17:24a “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am..." (NIV)

When you looked to Jesus in faith taking Him at His word, you became the Spirit-born child of God. The love He has for you is the reason He inspired John to write in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)

He was not motivated by disgust at your sins, though they are many. He was motivated by His all-encompassing love for you. Jesus Loves you. He died so you and He could be together.
