Assurance of Forgiveness

Assurance

How can you know for certain that God has forgiven you?
How can you know you're forgiven for all the sins of your past?
How can you know you're forgiven for all the sins of today?
How can you know you're forgiven for every single sin you have yet to commit?
Hebrews 9:22 tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

It's not about apology, sorrow, or regret.
It's about life.

The wages of sin is death.
Unless there is death to pay those wages, there is no forgiveness.

Jesus died. His life and blood are perfect.

Only such a death could pay the wages of the sins of the world and that's exactly what He did.

Hebrews 10:1-18 (NASB) elaborates significantly.

Here are a few highlights:

Verse 12 reads, "but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,"

Verse 14 "For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified."

Verses 17 and 18 sum it all up in this: "and their sins, and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin."

There's nothing more that can be done.

Jesus can never die again.

His blood cannot be shed again.

God sits outside of time. What He has done in Christ Jesus has no relationship to time. It simply IS.

You are fully, finally, and forever forgiven.
