The Gospel is Simple

The Gospel is Simple

Some say that the simple good news of the unadulterated Gospel is just preaching what pleases people.

The idea seems to be that knowing that Father loves and cares for us is simply what our "itching ears" want to hear.

In truth, the simplicity of the Gospel is the opposite of what most people are drawn toward.

Most people react against it because it takes their relationship with God out of their control, and they are left with nothing to do. It simply seems wrong that right standing with God, indeed complete forgiveness and even righteousness itself, could be a gift. Merit-based attainment is ingrained in the flesh--the world's system.

But God!

God knew we couldn't meet the standard of being perfect, so He stepped in and met it for us. He left the gift of salvation sitting on the porch of our hearts like a package from Amazon.

All that's required to enjoy the contents is that we believe the sender, and thus, open the package.

Don't be deceived. The Gospel is simple.
If it's not simple, it's not the Gospel.
The Gospel is good news.
If it's not good news, it's not the Gospel.
