What God Wants You to Do

What God Wants You to Do

I was taught that I needed to read the Bible, find out what God wanted me to do, and then do it. I spent many years trying to do that. I prayed to know His will for me. I found lists of rules, laws, and commandments.

Little of it seemed to address my everyday life. All my focus was on me. What I should do, what I should avoid.

I don't want you to struggle for years like I did, so I'm going to tell you what God wants you to do. Ready?

John 13:34
John 15:12
John 15:17

What do these three verses have in common?

They all record things Jesus said.

Jesus said the same thing in each of them--repeating Himself three times so idiots like me wouldn't miss it for years and years.

What did Jesus say?

Love one another as I have loved you.

There you go. Now you know what God wants from you. You have His commandment and His commandment is not burdensome. No sacrifices, no daily rituals, no rites and ceremonies.

No focus on ourselves. All focus on Him, His love, and those around us.

That's the way of Grace. Easy yokes, light burdens, faith working itself out in love.
