Hidden with Christ in God

Colossians 3:3 tells us that our lives are hidden with Christ in God.

The word translated “hidden” carries the sense of “safely kept.” It’s such a beautiful image. We who have believed God are safe and secure, hidden and kept in God just as the Lord Jesus is in God.

“Hidden” brings to mind Noah and his family safely sealed in the ark by God. Kept from harm as judgement fell in torrents.

This adds depth to Ephesians 1:13 that tells us that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise as a first installment of our inheritance.

If we are lovingly and securely kept in this way, what do we have to fear? Our future is secure, and God is for us. As our Brother Paul asks in Romans 8:31 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” (NASB 2020)
