Thoughts on Knowing God

Knowing God

John 17:3 tells us that knowing God is eternal life. Peter shares another insight about knowing God. In 2 Peter 1:2 he wrote that grace and peace are increased in (or through) the knowledge of God.

This illustrates a very important point.

Knowing God is crucial to abundant life:
Because He is life.
Because He is love.

Knowing God is not knowing facts about God. It's a relational, experiential knowing.

When we know Him better,
We find it natural to trust Him more.
We know what to expect of Him.
We know what He wants.
We want what He wants.
We expect to bear spiritual fruit.
We expect that He's living through us.
We expect that His will is being accomplished through us.

This gives us a gracious outlook and demeanor toward others.
It gives us deep inner peace.
